I worked closely with Arshad on a project that involved designing and implementing a collaborative workspace that was aimed at improving sales effectiveness. The platform improved visibility of sales efforts and helped the sales head manage the team more effectively. By constantly iterating the solution with feedback from users, we were able to create something that everyone was actually happy to use.  I believe virtual workspaces are the future and knowing how to craft such platforms to meet particular business requirements is of tremendous value.

The safety culture transformation at our facility in Gujarat truly began with a compelling documentary made by Arshad and his team that was shown to more than 500 people in an open theatre - there was not a dry eye in the audience.

A lot of time was spent on research on the ground and a truly unique approach involving our employees. Sometimes, no amount of data or facts can change perceptions - in this case, I saw mind shift happening in front of my eyes.

We have carried on from there and despite large and complex operations, we are today front runners globally on the safety index benchmark.

 I worked on our annual offsite retreat together with Arshad and team. Amongst a number of items we did  was a theatre workshop with five different groups enacting plays that were prepared in advance. Despite what was half a day of fun and banter, we found time to talk and reflect on some key management messages that emerged from it. Difficult topics were confronted head on and nothing got personal. This was truly a refreshing approach to building team culture.

On the last night, they got the thirty of us to wear  traditional Gujarati costumes - it was a laugh riot and a BIG HIT !

How many times have you been to a customer appreciation event in a big banquet room and felt completely disengaged? Too many times!

I was invited to a customer event organized by Arshad and team that virtually turned the concept upside down - two hundred of us were ferried on a big boat that cruised in the sea and docked on an island for more fun and games. No one even wanted to look at their smart phones. I learnt later that the company spent lesser than what it would normally do for many fold the engagement value. And without doubt, the standing of the company in the customers eyes increased tremendously which simply meant more business.

I had the opportunity to engage with Arshad when we were worked together to start up a boutique online travel portal. On the first day as part of the brief, he took us through various story boards that he had created, and by the end of his narration, we were pumped up with so much energy that we could not wait to get started. I have had the opportunity to collaborate with Arshad for ten films now, both documentaries and short videos. Having worked with a lot of top advertising agencies in the country, I can safely say that Arshad has all the attributes of what they call in the advertising world - a creative director. However he chooses to use these skills to focus on enhancing organizational effectiveness and improving engagement with stakeholders.

Film making can be a tricky business, a lot of elements need to come together to get a good product. However, we have always managed to create something that is better than what was originally conceived on paper - to get that kind of consistency is rare. I believe this comes from knowing exactly what you are after.
